Tilly, Ross, Cummings, Malloy and Ortiz Join "All About Eve" Actors Fund Benefit

By Adam Hetrick

05 Nov 2008

Academy Award nominee Jennifer Tilly and entertainer Steve Ross have joined the all-star benefit presentation of "All About Eve" at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Nov. 10.

Academy Award nominee Annette Bening is set to play Margo Channing in the reading of Joseph L. Mankiewicz's 1950 backstage drama that will be directed by Emmy winner John Erman. Show time is 7:30 PM.

The reading, which will benefit the Actors Fund of America, features previously announced stars including Tony Award winner Brian Bedford as Addison DeWitt, Tony nominee Peter Gallagher as Bill, four-time Tony winner Angela Lansbury as Birdie, Tony winner Cynthia Nixon as Karen, Emmy nominee John Slattery as Lloyd, four-time Tony winner Zoe Caldwell as Chief Prompter and Oscar and Tony winner Joel Grey as Max Fabian.

Jennifer Tilly (The Women) joins the cast as Ms. Caswell, while award-winning vocalist and musician Steve Ross is the Pianist. Newly added cast members also feature Jessica Cummings as Phoebe, as well as Maura Lisabeth Malloy and Victor Joel Ortiz rounding out the ensemble.

The 1950 film "All About Eve" was written and directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, based on the short story "The Wisdom of Eve" by Mary Orr. The motion picture starred Bette Davis as Channing, the prominent yet aging Broadway star, and Anne Baxter as Eve Harrington, a willingly helpful young fan who insinuates herself into Channing's life.

The film was nominated for 14 Academy Awards and won six, including Best Picture.

The Eugene O'Neill Theatre is located in Manhattan at 230 West 49th Street. Tickets for the reading, which begin at $100, are available by calling (212) 221-7300, ext. 133 or online at tickets@actorsfund.org. For more information visit www.actorsfund.org.
