Sondheim and Rich Will Discuss A Life in the Theater in January 2009

Tony Award-winning musical theatre composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim, currently represented Off-Broadway with the new musical Road Show, will take part in an upcoming evening at Avery Fisher Hall.

Entitled Stephen Sondheim: A Life in the Theater, the Jan. 18, 2009, event will feature Sondheim and former New York Times theatre critic Frank Rich. Show time is 8 PM.

Sondheim and Rich, according to a press statement, "will engage in a live, unscripted conversation, reminiscing about Stephen Sondheim's career, legendary collaborations, inspirations, and rich theatrical and cinematic resumé."

Stephen Sondheim, who penned the lyrics for Gypsy and West Side Story, is the award-winning composer-lyricist of A Little Night Music, Into the Woods, Follies, Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along, Anyone Can Whistle, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Sunday in the Park with George, Assassins, Company and Passion, among others. His newest musical, Road Show, is currently in previews at the Public Theater.
