Alan Wasser Associates Will Be General Manager of 2009 Tony Awards

By Andrew Gans
12 Nov 2008

There will be a shift in power for the 2009 Tony Awards, which will be held at Radio City Music Hall June 7, 2009.

According to a representative for the Tony Awards, "Tony Award Productions have not renewed Liz McCann and Joey Parnes' contract. Alan Wasser Associates will act as the general manager of the 2009 Tony Awards. Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss/White Cherry Entertainment will continue on as the producers of the 2009 Tony telecast."

Veteran producer Elizabeth (Liz) I. McCann had been general manager of the annual Tony Awards telecast since 2001.

Alan Wasser Associates — led by Alan Wasser and Allan Williams —have been general managers for such Broadway productions as Seussical, Sweet Smell of Success, Oklahoma!, Hollywood Arms, All Shook Up, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life, Festen, Lestat, A Chorus Line, Grey Gardens, Les Misérables and Cirque Dreams.

CBS-TV will broadcast the Tony Awards live. For more information visit www.tonyawards.com.
