"Broadway By the Year" to Salute 1924, 1931, 1944 and 1970 in 2009

By Andrew Gans
14 Nov 2008

"Broadway By the Year," the acclaimed concert series created and hosted by producer Scott Siegel, will offer four evenings in 2009, each celebrating a different year on The Great White Way.

The new season will kick off Feb. 23, 2009, with Broadway Musicals of 1924. The 1924 season featured such musicals as Marjorie, Paradise Alley, No Other Girl, Artists and Models, George White Scandals and Ziegfeld Follies.

The 1931 Broadway season will be remembered March 30. Broadway Musicals of 1931 will boast tunes from The Student Prince, The Band Wagon and H.M.S. Pinafore, among others.

On May 11 Broadway Musicals of 1944 will offer songs from Porgy & Bess, On the Town, The Merry Widow and Follow the Girls.

The season will conclude June 15 with Broadway Musicals of 1970. Audiences can expect to enjoy songs from Company, Applause, Candida, The Boyfriend and Purlie.

The 8 PM evenings will feature musical direction by Ross Patterson.

Town Hall is located in Manhattan at 123 West 43rd Street (between Sixth and Seventh Avenues). For more information visit www.the-townhall-nyc.org.
