Dinklage, Hecht, Keenan-Bolger and Yaegashi Will Be Part of Let Me Put it This Way

By Adam Hetrick
18 Nov 2008

Actors Peter Dinklage, Jessica Hecht, Celia Keenan-Bolger and James Yaegashi will take part in the 52nd Street Project's Let Me Put it This Way: The Straight Talk Plays at The Public Theater.

Founded by Willie Reale in 1981, the 52nd Street Project pairs children from Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood with theatre professionals to develop and perform the original work penned by the young playwrights.

Presented Dec. 5-7 at the Public Theater, Let Me Put it This Way is the culmination of a nine-week playwrighting course led by associate artistic director Reg Flowers.

In addition to Dinklage, Hecht, Keenan-Bolger and Yaegashi, Let Me Put it This Way will also feature Uzo Aduba, Tim Cain, John Ellison Conlee, Zenzele Cooper, Tom Riis Farrell, Kevin Geer, Sevan Greene, Kathy Hiler, Sue Jean Kim, Keira Naughton, Armando Riesco, Diana Rojas, Sharon Washington and Joe White.

Directing the professional actors and young members of the 52nd Street Project are Jonathan Bernstein, Maria Goyanes, Leslie Kramer, Davis McCallum, Rick Meese, John Sheehy, Felix Solis, Sarah Cameron Sunde, Maureen Towey and Nicole Watson. Music for the one-acts is provided by Patrick Barnes.

Admission to Let Me Put it This Way is free, but reservations should be made in advance by calling (212) 642-5052. For more information visit www.52project.org.

The Public Theater is located at 425 Lafayette Street in Manhattan.

The 52nd Street Project was created to improve the quality of life for New York's inner-city children who live in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. Through programs and partnerships with theatre professionals, the 52nd Street Project reaches out to local children by creating theatrical projects tailored to their experiences.

The mission of the 52nd Street Project states, "The Project is not about teaching children to act, although they will learn to. It is not about teaching them to write plays, although they will learn that as well. What it is about is giving a kid an experience of success. It is about giving a kid an opportunity to prove that he or she has something of value to offer, something that comes from within that he or she alone possesses, something that cannot be taken away."
