Our Time Theatre One-Acts to Feature Perez, Alexander, Higgins and More

By Adam Hetrick
20 Nov 2008

Actors Rosie Perez, Jace Alexander and Joel Higgins will perform one-act plays penned by the members of Our Time Theatre Company on Dec. 12 and 13.

The Our Time Theatre Company, which serves as the artistic home for young people who stutter, presents the compact stagings as the culmination of its One-Act Play Program, which pairs Our Time members with professional actors. The actors perform original works penned by the young members of the theatre company at the Cherry Lane Theatre.

Danielle Diesu will direct her romantic comedy A Playlist Worth A Thousand Words, which will feature Rosie Perez (The Ritz), Ramon Rodriguez ("The Wire"), Shirley Rumierk ("Cool in Your Code"), Pancho Gutstein and Our Time company members Tim Short and Victoria Perlman.

Cherish Every Moment, a new work from Tom King about a family's loss, will feature Jace Alexander (I'm Not Rappaport, Assassins), Taro Alexander (STOMP) , Maddie Corman (Some Kind of Wonderful), Joel Higgins ("Silver Spoons") and Our Time company member Joseph Popovich, Jr. Writer King will also direct.

The final offering will be Edward Mawere's mother-daughter musical Mendacity. Mawere will direct his rock musical that features Noah Cornman ("Law & Order"), Carl Danielsen (The Big Voice: God or Merman?) and Emily Whyte.

A Q&A session with the writers will follow each performance. Performances are 8 PM Dec. 12, and 2 and 8 PM Dec. 13.

For tickets, priced $12, phone (212) 414-9696, or visit www.ourtimetheatre.org.

The Cherry Lane Theatre is located at 38 Commerce Street in Manhattan.
