BBC Radio 2 Celebrates the Music of Disney is the title of an upcoming concert at London's Lyceum Theatre — home of The Lion King — that will boast a mix of Broadway and West End theatre stars.
The Dec. 8 concert will feature the 74-piece BBC Concert Orchestra as well as Ashley Brown, Tituss Burgess, Kerry Butler, Maria Friedman, Heather Headley, Adam Pascal, Matt Rawle and Drew Sarich. Larry Blank is the musical director; show time is 7 PM.
The performers will sing the Oscar, Grammy and Tony-winning music that comprise the Disney songbook. The West End company of The Lion King will also perform concert versions of "Circle of Life" and "One by One."
Part of BBC Radio 2's "Friday Night Is Music Night" series, the concert will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 Dec. 26.
In related news, the cast of London's Lion King will perform live for TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, at the 2008 Royal Variety Performance, which will be held at London's Palladium Theatre.
