Ruby Dee Is the Recipient of the Diversity Awards Lifetime Achievement Honor

Veteran stage and screen actress Ruby Dee was presented with the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Nov. 23 Diversity Awards.

Presented at Universal Studios Hollywood, the Diversity Awards also honored "Secret Life of Bees" director Gina Prince-Bythewood with the Visionary Award and "The Women" screenwriter Diana English with the Best Adapted Screenplay honor.

Also among the recipients were Cris "Ludacris" Bridges (Creative Maverick Award), Mallika Sherawat (Renaissance Artist Award), Nate Parker (Male Nova Award), as well as programs including "The Cleaner" (Most Compelling Television Drama), "Til Death" (Favorite Television Comedy Ensemble Award), "Black Magic" (Best Documentary Feature-Non Theatrical Release), "Saving Grace" (Favorite Television Drama) and "Army Wives" (Favorite Drama Ensemble Award).

The Diversity Awards honor "outstanding and inspiring individuals in the entertainment industry for their contribution to diverse perspectives in film and television."
