Broadway's Kelso, Donnell, Hurlbert, Violett, Halling Sing in NYC Cabaret Benefit Dec. 1

By Kenneth Jones
01 Dec 2008

Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP) will be supported by a Dec. 1 cabaret concert, ASTEP Together, featuring Broadway folk and New York University students, at the Triad Theatre in Manhattan.

The cabaret performance — a mix of theatre music, pop and original songs — is presented by ASTEP@NYU, a collective of concerned NYU students who seek to support the international work done by ASTEP, which provides arts education and other resources for kids at risk in the U.S., South Africa and India.

Gabriela Tejedor, an NYU theatre education student, and Molly Gachignard, an NYU music composition student, produce the cabaret-style concert. Musical direction is by Gachignard, who will be on piano with Julie McBride.

The show will feature the talents of A Tale of Two Cities alumni Anne Tolpegin, Rebecca Robbins, Alison Cimmet, Michael Halling and Randy Glass, plus Autumn Hurlbert (Legally Blonde), Andy Kelso (Mamma Mia!), Colin Donnell (Jersey Boys, Pride & Prejudice) and Spring Awakening's Alice Lee (a music business student at NYU), Emma Hunton, Caitlin Kinnunen, Gabe Violett and Zach Reiner-Harris. Additional performers include Adam Alexander, Shauna Goodgold, NYU's Jacob Hoffman and Kimberly Moye.

The 9:30 PM performance is at The Triad Theatre, 158 West 72nd Street. Reserve tickets by emailing ASTEPtix@gmail.com or buy at the door. Tickets are $10 (or $5 for students) plus a two-drink minimum.

ASTEP@NYU "utilizes the diverse and rich pool of talent in its community to support ASTEP's mission and sustain the arts in underprivileged communities. ASTEP@NYU affords busy but talented and giving students the opportunity to bond with other artists and give back to the greater NYU community by raising awareness and necessary funding for ASTEP."
