Cast Set for Cleveland Play House's Fourth Annual A Christmas Story

By Adam Hetrick
26 Nov 2008

Kolin Morgenstern, Elizabeth Ann Townsend and Charles Kartali will star in the Cleveland Play House's annual stage production of A Christmas Story.

Based on the popular memoir by Jean Shepherd and the subsequent 1983 motion picture of the same title, A Christmas Story returns for the fourth year reuniting cast members from previous Cleveland Play House stagings.

Cleveland Play House associate artistic director Seth Gordon helms Philip Grecian's stage adaptation of A Christmas Story that will run Nov. 28-Dec. 21, with an official opening set for Dec. 3.

The cast features Kolin Morgenstern as Ralphie, Elizabeth Ann Townsend as Mother, Charles Kartali as The Old Man, Wilbur Edwin Henry as adult Ralph, Alex Bolton as Randy, Cameron McKendry as Scot Farkas, Olivia Doria as Esther Jane, Joey Stefanko as Flick, Lauren Cole as Helen, Carole Monferdini as Miss Shields and Matthew Hemminger as Schwartz.

The creative team for A Christmas Story also includes Michael Ganio (scenic design), David Kay Mickelsen (costume design), Richard Winkler (lighting design), James C. Swonger (sound design) and Larry Nehring (fight choreographer).

The classic holiday story follows Ralphie Parker, whose holiday wish is a Red Ryder 200 Shot Carbine Action Air Rifle. The 1940's-set comedy follows Ralphie through his holiday campaign for the gift of his dreams, complete with a visit to Santa at Higbee's Department Store, the family's exploding furnace, an experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost and more.

Tickets are available by phoning (216) 795-7000 or by visiting ClevelandPlayhouse.
