Mathison to Host "ABC & SOAPnet Salute Broadway Cares"; Tix Now On Sale

By Andrew Gans
01 Dec 2008

As previously announced, ABC-TV's annual fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will be held in March 2009 at Town Hall.

Entitled "ABC & SOAPnet Salute Broadway Cares," the starry concert is scheduled for March 9, 2009. Cameron Mathison will host.

Actors from such ABC daytime shows as "All My Children," "One Life to Live" and "General Hospital" will offer musical numbers and skits. Casting will be announced shortly.

Brian Frons, president, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group, said in a statement, "The annual ABC Daytime Salutes Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids benefit was created as a way for us to give back to the community and support a great organization. This event also provides a unique outlet to extend our brand while providing our loyal viewers the opportunity to see their favorite stars perform live on Broadway."

To date the ABC fundraisers have raised a total of one million dollars for the charitable organization.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is the nation's largest industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organization. Since its founding in 1988 the organization has distributed over $140 million for services for people with AIDS, HIV or HIV-related illnesses.

Tickets, priced $80, $110, $275 and $500, are available by calling (212) 840-0770, ext. 268. For more information visit www.broadwaycares.org.

Town Hall is located in Manhattan at 123 West 43rd Street.
