"Doubt" and "Frost/Nixon" Among 13th Annual Satellite Award Nominees

The International Press Association has announced nominations for the 2008 Satellite Awards: Among the nominees are stage and screen veterans Frank Langella, Meryl Streep, Sam Rockwell and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

The awards, which honor work in film, television, DVD and new media, will be presented Dec. 14 in Los Angeles.

Among the nominated theatre folk are Kristin Scott Thomas ("I've Loved You So Long"), Meryl Streep ("Doubt" and "Mamma Mia!"), Mark Ruffalo ("What Doesn't Kill You" and "The Brothers Bloom"), Frank Langella ("Frost/Nixon"), Viola Davis ("Doubt"), Sean Penn ("Milk"), Sam Rockwell ("Ghost Town"), Josh Brolin ("W."), Anne Hathaway ("Rachel Getting Married"), Rosemarie DeWitt ("Rachel Getting Married"), Anjelica Huston ("Choke"), Emma Thompson ("Brideshead Revisited"), Melissa Leo ("Frozen River"), Michael Shannon ("Revolutionary Road") and Philip Seymour Hoffman ("Doubt").

Best Adapted Screenplay nominees include David Hare's "The Reader," John Patrick Shanley's "Doubt" and Peter Morgan's "Frost/Nixon." Ron Howard ("Frost/Nixon") and Stephen Daldry ("The Reader") picked up nominations for Best Direction.

Baz Luhrmann's epic "Australia," starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, was nominated for Best Original Screenplay and picked up numerous technical awards.

In addition to the nominations, actor Louis Gossett, Jr. has been named the Mary Pickford Award Recipient for "Outstanding Artistic Contribution to the Entertainment Industry."
