Eyre and Westrate Set for White's Terre Haute Off-Broadway

By Adam Hetrick
03 Dec 2008

Nick Westrate

Peter Eyre and Nick Westrate will star in the New York premiere of Edmund White's Terre Haute Off-Broadway at 59E59 Theaters.

George Perin will direct the two-man work that centers on an imaginary meeting between a famed author and America's most infamous home-grown terrorist. Terre Haute will begin performances Jan. 13, 2009, and run through Feb. 15, 2009. An opening night has not been announced.

Previously developed as part of the Sundance Institute Theatre Lab, Terre Haute made its stage premiere as part of the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and transferred to West End's Trafalgar Studios in May 2007.

Peter Eyre, who portrays the author, has been with Terre Haute since the Edinburgh debut and earned an Evening Standard Best Actor nomination for his work. On Broadway Eyre has appeared in Hamlet with Ralph Fiennes. His stage credits also include Don Carlos, Richard II, The Wild Duck and Waste.

Nick Westrate has appeared on Broadway in A Moon for the Misbegotten and in the Off-Broadway productions of PeopleSpeak, The Vietnamization of New Jersey, All That I Will Ever Be and The Winter's Tale.

Complete creative duties and ticket information for Terre Haute will be announced shortly.
