Cannavale Will Take Aim in ABC's "Cupid"

By Adam Hetrick
04 Dec 2008

The television remake of "Cupid," starring Emmy Award-winning actor Bobby Cannavale and Sarah Paulson, will premiere March 24, 2009, on ABC.

The new series, based on Rob Thomas' 1990's sitcom "Cupid," features Cannavale as Trevor Hale, a man who believes he is the god of love who has been banished to earth until he unites 100 couples in endless bliss. The 1998 series featured Jeremy Piven (Speed-the-Plow, "Entourage") in the title role.

Sarah Paulson (The Glass Menagerie, Crimes of the Heart) has been cast as the psychiatrist assigned to Cannavale's character. "Cupid" will air Tuesdays at 10 PM on ABC, replacing "Eli Stone," which may be canceled by the network.

Bobby Cannavale made his Broadway debut in 2007 with Mauritius. He has appeared Off-Broadway in Hurlyburly and Fucking A. An Emmy winner for his recurring role on "Will & Grace," Cannavale has also appeared on screen in "M.O.N.Y.," "Six Feet Under," "Ally McBeal," "The Exonerated," "100 Centre Street" and "Sex and the City."
