PHOTO CALL: Chair Opens Off-Broadway

Theatre for a New Audience's production of Edward Bond's Chair opened Off-Broadway Dec. 11.

Robert Woodruff directs the New York premiere of the work at The Duke on 42nd Street.

Stephanie Roth Haberle is featured in a cast that also includes Will Rogers, Alfredo Narciso, Annika Boras and Joan Macintosh.

Chair "explores theatricality in an austere and concentrated way without embellishment or decoration," according to a press announcement. "Bond envisions a haunting Orwellian world in which security is more important than freedom. Haberle plays Alice whose single kindly gesture of bringing a chair to a soldier waiting for a bus leads to the unimaginable."
