World Premiere of Looking for the Pony to Feature Cameron and O'Connell

By Adam Hetrick
15 Dec 2008

J. Smith Cameron and Deidre O'Connell will star in the world premiere of Andrea Lepcio's Looking for the Pony at the McGinn Cazale Theatre in January 2009.

Stephan Golux will direct the Vital Theatre Company's limited engagement, which begins performances Jan. 21, 2009, and will run through Feb. 8, 2009. An official opening has been set for Jan. 23, 2009.

Cameron (Good Boys and True) and O'Connell (The Poor Itch) will be joined by Lori Funk (Three on a Couch) and Debargo Sanyal (Queens Boulevard).

In Looking for the Pony, press notes state, "Eloisa is finally ready to leave a lifeless career in finance to pursue a childhood dream when her sister Lauren is diagnosed with breast cancer. Lauren's perfect life and Eloisa's second chance collide as the sisters join forces to cure all that ails them. As funny as it is heart-breaking, Looking for the Pony is a rollercoaster ride through treatment, ambition, loss and acceptance."

The production features set design by Adam Koch, lighting design by Aaron Copp, costume design by Matthew Hemesath and sound design by Jessica Paz.

Following its world-premiere production, Looking for the Pony will play the Synchronicity Performance Group in February 2009. Lepcio's plays include One Nation Under, Eclipse, Hook & Eye and the musical The Bronx Casket Co.

Tickets, priced $45, are available by phoning (212) 579-0528, or by visiting VitalTheatre. The McGinn Cazale Theatre is located at 2162 Broadway in Manhattan.
