Geoffrey Rush, who won an Academy Award for his performance in Shine, will join fellow Oscar winner Susan Sarandon for the New York production, which will play the Barrymore, currently the home of the acclaimed revival of Speed-the-Plow.
Performances will begin March 7 with an official opening March 26; the limited engagement will run through June 14.
Australian director Neil Armfield will helm the production. Armfield also directed Exit the King, which features a translation by the director and actor Rush, last year at the Belvoir St. Theatre in Sydney. That production also cast Oscar winner Rush in the title role.
The design team includes includes Dale Ferguson (set and costume), Damien Cooper (lighting) and Russell Goldsmith (sound). John Rodgers is the composer.
Geoffrey Rush won an Oscar for his work in Shine and was also nominated for his performances in Quills and Shakespeare in Love. Exit the King will mark Rush's Broadway bow.
Susan Sarandon won her Academy Award for her role in Dead Man Walking and also garnered Oscar nominations for Atlantic City, Thelma & Louise, Lorenzo's Oil and The Client. She made her Broadway debut in 1972 in the short-lived An Evening With Richard Nixon and...
