Eaves succeeds Thomas Sadoski in the role of Andrew; Sadoski is departing the company to begin rehearsals for Neil LaBute's Broadway debut play, reasons to be pretty.
The remainder of the Becky Shaw cast — including David Wilson Barnes, Emily Bergl, Kelly Bishop and Annie Parisse — will continue with the production, which has been extended through March 15.
Peter DuBois (Jack Goes Boating, Measure for Pleasure) directs the work, which began previews Dec. 16, 2008, and officially opened Jan. 8.
In Becky Shaw, press notes state, "a newlywed couple fixes up two romantically challenged friends: wife's best friend, meets husband's sexy and strange new co-worker. When an evening calculated to bring happiness takes a dark turn, crisis and comedy ensue in this wickedly funny new play that asks what we owe the people we love and the strangers who land on our doorstep."
Gionfriddo has also penned the plays After Ashley, U.S. Drag, Guinevere, Safe and Trepidation Nation. She has earned an Obie Award and the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, among others.
Director DuBois was recently appointed artistic director of Boston's Huntington Theatre Company. He has also directed Measure for Pleasure, Richard III and Jack Goes Boating Off-Broadway as well as a new adaptation of Sam Shepard's Curse of the Starving Class at San Francisco's American Conservatory Theatre.
