Theatre Under The Stars — Houston's acclaimed non-profit musical theatre company — has announced its 2009-2010 season at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

The season will kick off with the national tour of the Tony-nominated revival of Grease, which will play the Texas venue Sept. 8-20. "American Idol" winner Taylor Hicks stars as Teen Angel.

The fall will also welcome the TUTS debut of Meet Me in St. Louis, the musical based on the MGM film of the same name. The trolley will clang at TUTS Sept. 29-Oct. 11.

The classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music will end the year, playing Dec. 8-20, while the New Year will kick off with the Alain Boublil-Claude Michel-Schönberg musical Miss Saigon, which is scheduled for a Feb. 9-21, 2010 run.

Two national tours will conclude the TUTS season: Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific (March 9-21, 2010) and Little House on the Prairie (April 28-May 9, 2010).

In a statement TUTS President and CEO John C. Breckenridge said, "The quality and beauty of this lineup is something TUTS is very excited about. This is the type of season that exemplifies the soul of TUTS. The incomparable energy of Grease, beauty of South Pacific, the over-the-top production quality of Miss Saigon, and the quintessential nostalgia of The Sound of Music are all at the heart of why theatre is so emotionally impactful."
