On April 27, an early screening of the 82-minute documentary "Making the Boys," examining the creation of the play and subsequent film, will be presented at 4:30 PM at the SVA Theater 2. Tickets are required.
Following the screening of "Making the Boys" will be a panel discussion including Tony-winning producer and documentary filmmaker Dori Berinstein ("Showbusiness"), as well as playwright Crowley, film director Crayton Robey and Village Voice columnist Michael Musto.
The work-in-progress presentation of "Making the Boys" features many company members from the original Off-Broadway production who repeated their roles for the film, including actor Laurence Luckinbill, as well as playwright Mart Crowley, Dominick Dunne, Edward Albee, Tony Kushner, Robert Wagner and Paul Rudnick.
The Boys in the Band centers on a group of gay male friends who gather for the birthday of a friend in New York City. The evening offers a few surprises and candid discussion following the arrival of an unexpected guest.
