Cullman will direct the new work from the playwright of Underneath The Lintel for a Feb. 2-March 11, 2006 run at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, according to an MCC spokesperson.
In The Wooden Breeks, "set in the faraway mythical, fantastical, miserable village of Brood," according to show materials, Berger creates "a marvelously imaginative world peopled by a cast of dreamers, schemers and various sets of would-be lovers."
Director Cullman is also booked to stage the upcoming Bert V. Royal comedy Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead and The Play Company's Arabian Night by Roland Schimmelpfenning. Recent credits include Manic Flight Reaction, Swimming in the Shallows, Roulette and Last Sunday in June. He also served as assistant director to Joe Mantello on Take Me Out and Mike Nichols on "Angels in America."
MCC will next present 20 Dec. 5 — its fall benefit event featuring plays written by Eric Bogosian, Richard Greenberg, Peter Hedges, Neil LaBute, Terrence McNally and Doug Wright starring Lauren Ambrose, Jason Biggs, Zoe Caldwell, Julianna Margulies, Amanda Peet and Marian Seldes.
