The production, which began performances there March 28 prior to an official opening on April 7, was originally booking to July 25.
In a press statement, co-producer David Babani for Chocolate Factory Productions (who have brought it to the West End in partnership with Andrew Fell and Nica Burns and Max Weitzenhoffer for Nimax Theatres) commented, "It is with great excitement that we are able to announce further London performances of Trevor Nunn's Chocolate Factory production of A Little Night Music. Since its original opening in December last year, the production has played to packed houses both at the Chocolate Factory and the Garrick Theatre, and discussions are currently underway for a Broadway production to open later this year."
As previously reported, a casting notice indicated that the Trevor Nunn-directed production of Night Music will begin rehearsals for Broadway in October with an opening some time in December. Dates are "tentative," according to the Equity casting notice. The notice also said that all roles are open for the Broadway staging.
The Menier Chocolate Factory is also currently represented in the West End by its production of La Cage aux Folles, now playing at the Playhouse. A Little Night Music is also the second Menier production of a Sondheim show to transfer to the West End: Its production of Sunday in the Park with George moved to Wyndham's and was subsequently also staged under the auspices of Roundabout Theatre Company at Broadway's Studio 54. Other Menier shows to go onto a further life have included its U.K. premiere of Fully Committed (which transferred to the Arts), Little Shop of Horrors (Duke of York's and New Ambassadors, and now on a national tour), Dealer's Choice and Maria Friedman Re-Arranged (both of which transferred to the Trafalgar Studios).
