Domingo to Succeed Jones in Encores! Wiz Starting June 29

Passing Strange's Colman Domingo will replace Orlando Jones in the title role of The Wiz for the final six performances of the City Center Encores! Summer Stars production.
As previously announced, the Charlie Smalls-William F. Brown musical The Wiz will begin previews at the famed New York venue June 12.
Domingo will begin performances June 29 and stay with the production through its closing on July 5.
Jones is leaving the show early in order to shoot his new series "Crash Course" for ABC-TV.
The Wiz also stars Ashanti, LaChanze, Joshua Henry, James Monroe Iglehart, Christian Dante White, Tichina Arnold and Dawnn Lewis.
Colman Domingo has been seen on Broadway in
Passing Strange and
Well and Off-Broadway in
Passing Strange, Henry V, Bright Ideas and
American Maul. His screen credits include "Miracle at St. Anna," "True Crime," "Freedomland" and "The Big Gay Sketch Show."
