The Project Shaw series continues June 15 with readings of two George Bernard Shaw one-act comedies: The Six of Calais and The Simpleton of the Unexpected Isles.
The reading at the Players Club feature the talents of Daphne Rubin-Vega, Donna Lynne Champlin, Josh Grisetti, Victor Slezak, John Bolton, Jack Berenholtz, Nora Chester, Simon Kendall, James Prendergast, Nathaniel Shaw, Georgia Warner and Lucy Banks Sheftall.
Time Out NY's David Cote hosts the 7 PM performance.
The Six of Calais is described as "the legendary story of how an extremely pregnant queen helped save the town of Calais from utter devastation." The Simpleton of the Unexpected Isles is "Shaw's inventive experiment in living: commune life between three couples and the world-wide uproar it inspires."
Past participants include Blair Brown, Mark Kudisch, Kerry Butler, Tyne Daly, Jonathan Hadary, Daniel Jenkins, Rebecca Luker, Michael Cerveris, Karen Ziemba, Michele Pawk, Bruce Vilanch, Jack Gilpin and George S. Irving.
Project Shaw will continue with Mrs. Warren's Profession (July 20), Back to Methuselah (Part One) (Sept. 21), Back to Methuselah (Part Two) (Oct. 19), On the Rocks (Nov. 16) and Why She Would Not (Dec. 14).
