The York Theatre Company first produced Musical of Musicals in 2003, where the production premiered prior to an extended run at New World Stages (formerly Dodger Stages) for 583 performances.
The original creative team will reprise their work for the event, including director Pamela Hunt, set designer Jim Morgan, costume designer John Carver Sullivan and lighting designer Mary Jo Dondlinger.
Featuring music by Eric Rockwell, lyrics by Joanne Bogart and book by Rockwell and Bogart, Musical of Musicals centers on a simple plot about an ingénue who can't pay her rent, an evil landlord and the handsome leading man who could save the damsel in distress.
The evening then leads audiences through five variations on the plot, as it could have been conceived for the stage by songwriters Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Kander and Ebb, Jerry Herman and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
For tickets, ranging $40-$100, phone (212) 935-5820 or visit YorkTheatre. The York Theatre Company is located in Saint Peter's Church at 54th and Lexington Avenues.
