The musicals The Trimble Wars, rightnextome and a project from the Lovewell Experience will be showcased at the Human Race Theatre Company's Musical Theatre Weekend in Dayton, OH.
The Human Race, which regularly devotes its programming to the development of new musicals, will present works from Greg Coffin (Convenience, Five Course Love), the writing team of Sean Michael Flowers and Patrick Vaughn, as well as a new collaborative theatre project from the Human Race and the Lovewell Group over the July 17-19 weekend.
Staged readings include The Trimble Wars, with music by Sean Michael Flowers and book and lyrics by Patrick Vaughn. The cast will include Scott Stoney, Aaron Vega, Patricia Linhart, Jamie Cordes, Sara Mackie, Daina Michelle Griffith, JJ Tiemeyer, Will Hutcheson, Kristen Hurley, Renee Franck-Reed, Alexandra Finke and James Roselli.
Human Race executive director Kevin Moore will direct Trimble Wars, "about a soap opera where the action off camera is, well, a soap opera – complete with love, daytime drama and a wavering line between fact and fiction" (July 18 at 8 PM and July 19 at 7 PM).
Also presented will be Greg Coffin's rightnextome. The cast features Broadway actors Jim Poulos, (Rent, Convenience), Stacia Fernandez (The Drowsy Chaperone, Beauty and the Beast) and Melissa Dye (Phantom of the Opera, Into the Woods).
The final offering is a full production from the Lovewell Project, which has been conceived, produced and will be performed by area teens. Under the tutelage of the Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts, participants have learned the process of making a musical, from concept and creation to production and performance (July 17 at 8 PM; July 18 at 3 PM).
Tickets, priced $15, are available by phoning (937) 461-3823. Visit HumanRaceTheatre.
