A musical episode of the animated series "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" will debut at Comic-Con International in San Diego before its fall airing on the Cartoon Network.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the musical episode, entitled Mayhem of the Music Meister!, will feature the voice of recent Tony Awards host Neil Patrick Harris as the villain, the Music Meister.
Casting and voice director Andrea Romano told the L.A. Times blog, "Eighty-five percent of this episode is music, so we needed somebody who was going to be able to handle this quickly and easily. Neil just flew through his session. It really was a perfect marriage of role and actor."
James Tucker and Michael Jelenic produced the episode, which features songs penned by Lolita Ritmanis, Michael McCuistion and Kristopher Carter.
The animated Mayhem of the Music Meister! will also include the vocal work of Grey DeLisle (Black Canary), James Arnold Taylor (Green Arrow) and Jeff Bennett (Batman).
Neil Patrick Harris has been seen on Broadway in Assassins, Cabaret and Proof. He appeared in the Geffen Playhouse's production of All My Sons as well as the L.A. company of Rent, the Reprise! production of Sweeney Todd and the London mounting of tick, tick . . . BOOM! His screen credits include the current "How I Met Your Mother" as well as "Undercover Brother," "Doogie Howser, M.D.," "Stark Raving Mad" and "Joan of Arc."
