The David Brind-Adam Salky high school-set movie "Dare," starring Tony Award winner Cady Huffman, Tony winner Alan Cumming, Ana Gasteyer and Emmy Rossum, will premiere in New York and Los Angeles Nov. 13.

Tony winning Spring Awakening composer Duncan Sheik scored the film that stars Rossum, Zach Gilford and Ashley Springer as a trio of high school students who become unlikely friends at the end of their senior year. Sandra Bernhard is also featured.

Written and co-produced by Brind and directed by Salky, "Dare" will screen in New York and Los Angeles prior to a nationwide theatrical release. Image Entertainment will distribute the film. Mary Jane Skalski and Jason Orans produce.

"Dare," according to press notes, "follows three teenagers through the last semester of high school: Alexa (Rossum), the overachieving good girl; Ben (Springer), the melancholy outsider and Johnny (Gilford), the rich kid who has everything. The unlikely trio falls into each other's lives, making a last-ditch effort to shake things up before they actually have to start living as adults."

Brind and Salky originally created "Dare" as an independent short film, which starred Hairspray and Wicked's Adam Fleming. Following a host of accolades at gay and lesbian film festivals across the country, the duo set out to explore "Dare" as a full-length film. The feature premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Huffman and Bernhard also starred in Brind's 2006 short "Twenty Dollar Drinks."
