Tony winner Len Cariou will direct and star in the York Theatre Company reading of the Lee Robert Schreiber-Terry Cashman musical Once Upon a Pastime on Aug. 6.
Cariou (Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music) directs the musical that features a book by Lee Robert Schreiber, with music and lyrics by Terry Cashman. The reading is presented at 3 PM.
In addition to staging the reading, Cariou leads a cast that also features Dan Bogart (Les Misèrables), Cole Burden (Applause), Cheryl Freeman (The Who’s Tommy, Walmartopia), Ikum Isaac Fryman, David Green (Wish You Were Here), Sebastian LaCause (The Rocky Horror Show), Matt Landers (Working), Adam Monley (Mamma Mia!), Brooke Sunny Moriber (Follies, The Wild Party), Benjamin Perry, Richard Ruiz (Two Gentleman of Verona) and Henry Strozier (Judgment at Nuremberg).
"In Once Upon a Pastime," press notes state, "Mac, a widowed ex-ballplayer, now a bar owner in a shabby Southern town, is having a bad day. Things becomes worse as he is confronted with ghosts from his past, an unhappy daughter, a dying best friend, an African-American singer named Whitey and three travelers who may or may not be baseball gods."
