Trevor Braun, who was scheduled to join the cast of Broadway's Billy Elliot Aug. 18 at the Imperial Theatre, will now join the Tony-winning Best Musical Aug. 22, according to a production spokesperson.
The 11-year-old Braun and Tony nominee David Bologna will alternate in the role of Michael. Keean Johnson remains the understudy for the role.
Braun has also been seen on Broadway as Chip in Beauty and the Beast and Flounder in The Little Mermaid.
Billy Elliot the Musical also stars David Alvarez, Tommy Batchelor, Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish as Billy, Haydn Gwynne as Mrs. Wilkinson, Gregory Jbara as Dad, Carole Shelley as Grandma, Will Chase as Tony and Kerry O'Malley as Mum.
Featuring music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreography by Peter Darling and direction by Stephen Daldry, Billy Elliot the Musical opened at Broadway's Imperial Theatre Nov. 13, 2008, and is the winner of ten 2009 Tony Awards.
