Lenk will step into the role of Franz, the part created by Wesley Taylor, Sept. 14 for a sixth-month engagement. Taylor, who will play his final performance Sept. 13, is departing the company to join the cast of the upcoming production of The Addams Family.
Producers also announced Sept. 1 that the remainder of the cast — including Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis — "will continue to rock eight times a week through summer 2010."
Actors who have signed through summer 2010 also include James Carpinello (Stacee Jaxx), Adam Dannheisser (Dennis), Mitchell Jarvis (Lonny), Michele Mais (Justice) and Lauren Molina (Regina). Paul Schoeffler, currently on leave, returns Oct. 26 and will also be with the show through summer 2010. (Don Stephenson is playing the role of Hertz until Schoeffler returns).
As previously announced, Tony nominee Kerry Butler begins performances as Sherri Sept. 21. Butler will play six performances a week; the role's understudy will play the part for both Sunday performances.
"In 1987 on the Sunset Strip," Rock of Ages production notes state, "a small town girl met a big city rocker and in L.A.'s most famous rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the '80s. . . . [The musical is] an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and many more."
