Shrek Tour Will Launch in July 2010 in Chicago

The national tour of the Tony-nominated Shrek the Musical will launch July 13, 2010, at Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theatre.

The limited engagement will play the Illinois venue through Sept. 5, 2010. Jason Moore, who directed the Broadway production at the Broadway Theatre, will also helm the tour. Casting has yet to be announced.

Tickets will be available through the Broadway In Chicago Season Series to subscribers beginning Sept. 13 at 10 AM by visiting www.BroadwayInChicago.com or by calling (312) 977-1717. Tickets are now available for groups of 15 or more by calling (312) 977-1710 and to subscribers of the 2010 Broadway In Chicago Season Series. Individual tickets will be available to the general public in early 2010.

Shrek which is based on based on the story and characters from William Steig's book and the DreamWorks Animation film of the same name features a book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire, music by Olivier Award winner Jeanine Tesori and direction by Tony Award nominee Moore.

Shrek, according to a press statement, "is an entirely new musical based on the story and characters from William Steig's book 'Shrek!,' as well as the DreamWorks Animation film."
