A one-night-only performance of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's Hedwig and the Angry Inch will be presented at New World Stages/Stage 2 in Manhattan next month.

The Oct. 28 staging of the rock musical will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. MAC and Barrymore Award winner David Colbert will star in the title role with Petra DeLuca as Yitzhak. Show time is 8 PM.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch, according to press notes, "tells the story of Hansel who reluctantly submits to a sex change operation, becoming Hedwig, to marry an American GI in order get over the Berlin Wall to freedom. The operation is botched, leaving her with the aforementioned 'angry inch.' Finding herself high, dry and divorced in a Kansas trailer park, she pushes on to form a rock band and encounters a lover/protégé in young Tommy Gnosis, who eventually leaves her, steals her songs and becomes a huge rock star."

New World Stages is located in Manhattan at 340 West 50th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues. For tickets, priced $50, visit www.broadwaycares.org or www.telecharge.com.
