A concert version of the new musical comedy American Family will be presented Oct. 18 at the Duplex in Manhattan.

The 7 PM concert will feature the talents of Sally Wilfert, George Dvorsky, Cait Doyle, Danny Calvert and Amy Nicole Polumbo. David Alpert directs.

David Dabbon and Tom Bruett penned American Family, which is described as an "original musical farce about a perfect 1950’s family, a moralistic neighbor and the effects of homogenized milk on the suburban housewife. A nosy evangelist moves to a quintessential fifties cul-de-sac and before long is enveloped by homosexual Elks, twelve year old communists and petrified hamsters. In the end we learn that unconditional love triumphs morality and if anything can destroy the traditional family, it will be homogenized milk."

American Family previously won the Player’s Theater Shortened Attention Span Musical Festival. A reading will be produced in Brooklyn later in the month.

David Dabbon and Tom Bruett are also the authors of Just Listed the apartment musical.

The Duplex Cabaret Theatre is located in Manhattan at 61 Christopher Street. There is a $15 music charge and a two-drink minimum; for reservations call (212) 255-5438 or visit theduplex.com.
