Tony nominee Randy Skinner, who assisted late Tony winner Gower Champion on the original 1980 Broadway production of 42nd Street and staged the Tony-winning 2001 revival of the musical to acclaim, directs and choreographs the production that began previews Sept. 25.
42nd Street, which reflects the 2001 script (including "I Only Have Eyes for You"), runs through Nov. 29, prior to beginning a holiday hiatus. Performances will resume Jan. 7, 2010, and conclude Feb. 6, 2010.
The cast features Tom Galantich as Julian Marsh, Dorothy Stanley as Dorothy Brock, Shannon M. O'Bryan as Peggy Sawyer, Todd Lattimore as Billy Lawlor, Michael Scott as Pat Denning, Ann-Ngaire Martin as Maggie Jones, David Titus as Abner Dillon, Derek Roland as Andy Lee, Jonathan Tomaselli as Bert Barry and Jenna Edison as Anytime Annie.
Ensemble members include Andrew Black, Jennifer Cameron, Andrew Chartier, Justine Clark, Andrew Eckert, Meghan Garstang, Jordan Grubb, Andrew Hodge, Chris LeBeau, Ashley Peacock, Matt Schneider, Kelly Skidmore and Katie Wood.
Assisting Skinner is Kelli Barclay; the creative team also includes Jeff Tanski (musical director), Steve Loftus (set designer), Andrew Gmoser (lighting designer), Jon Hatton (sound designer) and Gail Baldoni (costume designer).
With a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble and a score by Harry Warren and Al Dubin, 42nd Street is the backstage story of chorus girl made good, Peggy Sawyer, who finds both love and stardom on Broadway. The musical includes "Lullaby of Broadway," "We're in the Money," "Shuffle Off to Buffalo" and the title song.
