Bartlett Sher received a 2008 Tony Award for his direction of the Lincoln Center Theater revival of South Pacific. He earned Tony nominations for each of his other Broadway directorial outings, including Joe Turner's Come and Gone, The Light in the Piazza and Awake and Sing!
In addition to his work for the Broadway stage, Sher directed City Opera's Mourning Becomes Electra, as well as Prayer for My Enemy at Playwrights Horizons. He has been named the resident director of Lincoln Center Theater and will stage Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann for the Met this season.
