Farrington will stage the multimedia work that has costumes by Sara Jeanne Asselin, set design by Janet D. Clancy and additional contributions from Stephen O’Connell, Austin Guest, Laura Nicoll, Jadelynn Stahl and Shelley Kay.
The initial 1928 film of "The Passion of Joan of Arc" was lost to a fire the year it was released and a second film, created from director Carl Dreyer’s outtakes was released. That version was also lost to fire in 1935. In 1980, what is believed to be an original print of the master negative was found in Norway. Dreyer scholar Casper Tybjerg and the Danish Film Institute aided Farrington in assembling all existing prints of the film, which are featured in The Passion Project.
Farrington has served as a video artist for the Wooster Group for the past seven years. He has provided work on To You the Birdie!, Brace Up!, Poor Theater, House/Lights, WHO’S YOUR DADA and Hamlet. The Passion Project marks the beginning of a 15-week residency at 3LD where Farrington will develop his new work Gin & 'It', which is aiming for a March 2010 premiere in Ohio, followed by a New York premiere at PS 122 the following April.
The 3LD Art and Technology Center is located at 80 Greenwich Street in Manhattan. For tickets call (212) 352-3101 or visit 3LDNYC.
