Works by Kushner, Bogosian, Henderson and Engle Set for Yale Cabaret Season

Tony Kushner and Eric Bogosian's Shakespeare-inspired plays By Ill Be Cured will be presented as part of the Yale Cabaret in New Haven this November.



Now in its 42nd season, the Yale Cabaret offers brief engagements of experimental works from innovative theatre artists. Co-artistic directors Christopher Mirto and Devin Brain preside over the series that will also feature talkbacks with the artists involved.

Works included are Alter Egos: A One Wo/Man Festival, comprised of the Ryan Lockwood play The Fallout of Pearl Harbor directed by Aja King; and Rachel Spencer's Portraits Untitled, staged by Michael Leibenluft (Oct. 1-3).

Michael McQuilken will direct his play A Day In Dig Nation, coauthored with Tommy Smith (Oct. 8-10). Shannon Sullivan's Antibiosis, directed by Ben Horner, follows (Oct. 15-17); and Charlotte Brathwaite will stage Nijinsky's Last Dance, by Norman Allen (Oct. 22-24).

Skin Tight by Gary Henderson will be staged by Michael McQuilken (Oct. 29-31); and Rachel Spencer directs Margarita Engle's The Surrender Tree: An Adaptation (Nov. 5-7).

The final two offerings are By Ill Be Cured, a double-bill of Tony Kushner and Eric Bogosian dark comedies inspired by Shakespeare sonnets and directed by Meghan Pressman and Whitney Estrin (Nov. 12-14); and Janiya Antrum's Strange Love in Outer Space, staged by Christopher Mirto (Dec. 3-5).
