Tuneful Tuesdays Launches New Season Oct. 6 with Persuasion

The 2009-10 season of Tuneful Tuesdays (presented by Musical Mondays) launches Oct. 6 with a reading of the new musical Persuasion or 7 Years Bad Sex at the Jerry Orbach Theater in the Snapple Theater Center.



Suggested by Jane Austen's final novel, Persuasion features lyrics by Selda Sahin, music by Carl Danielsen and book by Pamela Hall.

Leah Bonvissuto directs a cast that comprises Shauna Goodgold, Dan Bogart, Robin Higginbotham and Rick Wesley. Musical director is David Fiorello.

Persuasion, according to press notes, "examines a couple who stop dating in the wake of 9/11. The guy needs to get his life together, grow up and move on. Seven years later, the couple finds they are maid of honor and best man at the same wedding."

The season will also offer readings of Seance (Nov. 17 at 6:30 PM), The Dirty Hippie Jam Band Project (Jan. 26, 2010 at 6:30 PM), and a double bill of A Trip to the Ruins and Now and Then (April 13, 2010 at 6:30 PM). A four-evening subscription is priced $45.
