Linda Eder, the powerhouse singer seen on Broadway in Jekyll & Hyde, celebrates songs from the silver screen on her newest solo recording.
Entitled "Soundtrack," the single CD is due on the Verve Records label Oct. 13. Peter Collins produces.
Among the disc's tracks are "Charade" (from "Charade"), "Falling Slowly" (from "Once"), "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" (from "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves"), "Against All Odds" (from "Against All Odds"), "If I Can't Have You" (from "Saturday Night Fever"), "Valley of the Dolls" (from "Valley of the Dolls"), "Accidentally in Love" (from "Shrek"), "I Can't Help Falling in Love" (from "Blue Hawaii"), "Everybody's Talkin'" (from "Midnight Cowboy") and "Help" (from "Help").
"We did most of the music in a jazzy pop version, which really worked for me," Eder said in a recent statement. "We wanted to find arrangements that were a little different and worked for my voice."
Eder will perform in concert at Manhattan's Town Hall Oct. 17 at 8 PM as part of the Fifth Annual Broadway Cabaret Festival; visit www.the-townhall-nyc.org.
