Pittsburgh CLO to Stage Hairspray, Curtains, Saigon, Producers and More

The Tony-winning musicals Hairspray and The Producers are on the summer bill for the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera's 2010 season.



The summer season will launch with the Lionel Bart classic Oliver!, running June 1-6, 2010; while the epic Vietnam-set musical Miss Saigon, featuring a score by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil, with additional lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr., will make a Pittsburgh return June 8-20, 2010.

Kander and Ebb's most recent Broadway outing Curtains, the backstage whodunit with a book by Rupert Holmes and Peter Stone, runs June 22-27, 2010; with Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan's Broadway smash The Producers to follow July 6-18, 2010.

The Tony-winning hit Hairspray, with a score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, runs July 20-Aug. 1, 2010; and the romantic Sigmund Romberg operetta The Student Prince, with book and lyrics by Dorothy Donnelly, is the last production: Aug. 3-8, 2010.
