Williamstown Film Festival president Joe Finnegan has been appointed the new general manager of the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

Finnegan, the former managing director and head of corporate development for Bear Wagner, joins Williamstown artistic director Nicholas Martin, who was appointed in 2007. Finnegan replaces outgoing general manager Gilbert Medina.

The Williamstown Theatre Festival programming offices are run out of Manhattan and Finnegan's appointment is part of an ongoing effort to better align the organization with its Berkshire audiences. Finnegan has been a Williamstown resident since 2005, and is on the board of several local organizations, including Images Cinema and the Pine Cobble School.

"The new structure makes good business sense while also affirming the Festival's roots and its desire to serve this community. WTF needs pragmatic and sound fiscal guidance combined with a real understanding of operating something in this community. Joe and the Williamstown team can deliver on that," said Matt Harris, Williamstown board of trustees president, in a statement.

The recent Williamstown season featured The Torch-Bearers, True West, Knickerbocker, Children, What Is the Cause of Thunder, Caroline in Jersey and Quartermaine's Terms.
