Stages St. Louis has announced the three musicals that will comprise the 2010 summer season at the professional Midwest company.

The season will launch with Roger Miller's Tony-winning country musical Big River, running May 28-June 27, 2010. William Hauptman based his book for the musical on the Mark Twain novel that follows Huck Finn and his friend Jim through their escapades on the Mississippi River.

Promises, Promises, featuring a book by Tony-winning playwright Neil Simon, a score by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, will run July 16-Aug. 15, 2010. The 1969 Tony-nominated musical centers on a New York City bachelor who allows his bosses to use his pad for their extramarital trysts.

The final production will be the Rodgers and Hammerstein extravaganza State Fair, which will run Sept. 3-Oct. 3, 2010. The short-lived Broadway musical, based on the 1945 source film, has a book by Tom Briggs and Louis Mattioli. The charming production follows the Frake family on their adventure to the Iowa Stage Fair in Des Moines. The stage production incorporates several Rodgers and Hammerstein "trunk songs" not heard in the original film.

Season tickets will be on sale Nov. 30, 2009. Single tickets will be available April 5, 2010. Visit StagesStLouis.
