Daniel Jenkins and Robert Stanton's Love Child, acclaimed when it was seen in a fall 2008 production by Primary Stages, resurfaces Oct. 23 in a commercial Off-Broadway engagement at New World Stages.

Carl Forsman — who staged the New York City premiere last year — again directs the work written and performed by Jenkins and Stanton. Tracy Bersley choreographs the comedy about a fraught opening night.

The show will officially open Oct. 31 for a run currently scheduled through Jan. 3, 2010. Martin Hummel, in association with Primary Stages and The StoryLine Project LLC, produces.

"In Love Child," according to production notes, "it's opening night. The cast is unruly, the crowd is restless, and the play is obscure, but Joel has a larger worry: his mother is in the front row. Real and theatrical worlds collide in this new comedy about the night a classic play spoke so loudly to its audience that they felt compelled to talk back. Daniel Jenkins and Robert Stanton take you on a wild ride when they portray everyone on stage, backstage and in the house, all coming together on one riotous night in the theatre."

A developmental presentation of Love Child was previously seen at New York Stage and Film. Stanton was recently seen on Broadway in The Coast of Utopia and Mary Stuart. Jenkins was seen in Broadway's Big River, Mary Poppins and Big.

The design team includes Neil Patel (set), Candice Donnelly (costumes) with Jeff Croiter and Grant Yeager (lighting). Joanne E. McInerney serves as production stage manager.
