Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS presents a one-night-only benefit performance of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's Hedwig and the Angry Inch Oct. 28.

MAC and Barrymore Award winner David Brian Colbert will star in the title role with Petra DeLuca as Yitzhak. Michael Grey stages the rock musical to play at New World Stages/Stage 2 at 8 PM. Daniel Lincoln is music director.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch, according to press notes, "tells the story of Hansel who reluctantly submits to a sex change operation, becoming Hedwig, to marry an American GI in order get over the Berlin Wall to freedom. The operation is botched, leaving her with the aforementioned 'angry inch.' Finding herself high, dry and divorced in a Kansas trailer park, she pushes on to form a rock band and encounters a lover/protégé in young Tommy Gnosis, who eventually leaves her, steals her songs and becomes a huge rock star."

The show marks the return of the annual event following a two-year absence. The BC/EFA Halloween tradition has previously sold out twice.

For tickets to Hedwig... at New World Stages, 340 West 50th St. (between Eighth and Ninth Ave.) are available by visiting broadwaycares.org.
