Sondheim's 1973 musical based on the Ingmar Bergman film "Smiles of a Summer Night" returns to Broadway in a star-studded production directed by Trevor Nunn.

Aging actress Desiree Armfeldt finds herself renewing a romance with a married lawyer when she grows tired of her blustering soldier lover, and the lawyer grows impatient with his resistently virginal child-bride.

Romantic subplots collide during one eventful weekend in the country. The score includes "Send in the Clowns," "Liaisons," "The Miller's Son," "Every Day a Little Death" and "A Weekend in the Country."
