Playwright Lynn Nottage, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Ruined, will appear at the Drama Book Shop in New York City Oct. 30.

The free 5:30 PM discussion celebrates the Theatre Communications Group publication of the acclaimed play. Nottage is joined by Ruined cast member Saidah Arrika Ekulona (who portrayed Mama Nadi) and Time Out NY theatre critic David Cote.

The published edition of Ruined features three original songs from the production and photographs of the actual Congolese women whose stories inspired the award-winning play.

Nottage's play, set in Democratic Republic of Congo during the civil war, follows a brothel owner and the women who work for her. Ruined was extended by the Manhattan Theatre Club Off-Broadway eight times this year.

In addition to earning the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Ruined was presented with a host of honors including the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play, Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Play and Outstanding Music for a Play, the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play, two Lucille Lortel Awards including Outstanding Play and Four OBIE Awards including Best New American Play.

The Drama Book Shop is located at 240 West 40th Street. Phone (212) 944-0595 for details.
