The Vineyard Theatre's extended run of Colman Domingo's autobiographical solo show, A Boy and His Soul, which ends Nov. 1, may return to Off-Broadway, producers announced Oct. 29.

"Due to Mr. Domingo's prior commitments, date and theatre for a commercial transfer of A Boy and His Soul will be announced at a later time," according to The Vineyard Theatre and producer Elizabeth Ireland McCann.

Tony Kelly directed and Ken Roberson choreographed the play written and performed by Domingo. Performances began Sept. 4 and opened Sept. 24 for a run originally slated through Oct. 18. Two weeks were added.

According to Vineyard notes, A Boy and His Soul "explores the life experiences of a young African-American man in 1980s Philadelphia, propelled by the beat of classical soul."

Domingo appeared on Broadway in Passing Strange and has also played Off-Broadway in Bright Ideas, Henry V and in the world premiere of Athol Fugard's Coming Home. He has also been seen on the Logo Network's "The Big Gay Sketch Show."

The design team for A Boy and His Soul features Rachel Hauck (set), Toni-Leslie James (costume), Marcus Doshi (lighting) and Tom Morse (sound). Winnie Y. Lok serves as production stage manager.
