The institute is open to current graduate students, those who have graduated from an accredited degree-granting institution (undergraduate or graduate) within the past five years or current Yale students. The two-week workshops will take place in New Haven from June 13-27, 2010.
Three productions will be selected for the workshop, with each member of the writing team receiving an honorarium in the amount of $1,000, as well as round-trip transportation and accommodation for the duration of the workshop.
Submissions will be accepted beginning Nov. 1 through Jan. 11, 2010. Applicants will be notified of their selection by March 1, 2010.
In its inaugural year, the Yale Institute presented the musicals sam i was with book, music, and lyrics by Sam Wessels; POP! with book and lyrics by Maggie-Kate Coleman and music by Anna K. Jacobs; and Invisible Cities with score and libretto by Christopher Cerrone.
POP! is on schedule to be presented in late November at the Yale Repertory Theatre under Brokaw's direction, starring Leslie Kritzer, Randy Harrison, Doug Kreeger, Emily Swallow, Cristen Paige, Brian Charles Rooney and Danny Binstock.
