In the new book "Forbidden Broadway: Behind the Mylar Curtain," Gerard Alessandrini documents and dishes on his long-running theatrical spoof that played to acclaim Off-Broadway and across the U.S.
"Forbidden Broadway: Behind the Mylar Curtain" includes the history of the tart valentine to Broadway, as well as over 100 parody lyrics from the revue, and behind-the-scenes stories told by creator and producer Alessandrini. Co-author is Michael Portantiere.
The Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning musical revue concluded performances Off-Broadway at the 47th Street Theatre on March 1, 2009. Forbidden Broadway premiered in New York at Palsson's Supper Club in January 1982.
